Hi there, I'm Paul!

Apparently, if you aren't embarrassed by the first version of your site, you launched too late. So I'm launching this as I build it, and I'm mortified that you're seeing it. Please, avert your eyes.

So this is actually roughly the thirty-seventh version of my personal website. That's not important. This could be the first version that I might actually finish.

It contains virtually nothing, except for my old blog posts, and even those have functionality missing as I've not migrated over a bunch of MDX components.

It does have a stupidly over-engineered grid layout system though, so I can do things like this:

To give you an idea of how much I've not done

Here's a list of things I had on my old Next.js site that I now don't...

  • My "Gaming" page, which linked up with APIs like Steam to show my recently played games
  • Spotify API integration and embeds
  • My Diablo III and Diablo IV characters
  • My living Pokedex
  • My Destiny reset timer, and Destiny character information
  • My annual reviews, with a list of things I've done that year and some stats
  • Carrot clicker, my dumb clicker game that breaks half the time

So what does it do?

  • Well, I already mentioned the blog, although I'm no longer displaying my drafts
    • Not for any particular reason, I just haven't built the page yet
  • It has a projects page, which is just a list of things I've worked on
  • I've got fully onboard the /slashes train

Anyway, it's built with Astro (opens in new tab), which is what I built the version before the version before this with. It's come a long way, I'll probably plan to write a blog post about it at some point, then forget about it.
